Keep Running - Crank it Out
Elliot Holtham grew up in Victoria, Canada. In his early years, he raced swimming and cross country skiing on Vancouver Island. During his undergraduate and PhD degrees at UBC, he competed for the varsity cross country ski team, and helped the team win its first national title in 2009. Once finished with skiing in the winter of 2010, Elliot looked for a new challenge and signed up for Ironman Canada with his sister in 2010. Elliot was hooked, and after the typical "that hurt - I'm never doing that again" experience, launched his professional triathlon career. Since his first Ironman in 2010, Elliot has quickly moved through the triathlon ranks, moving from a new professional to competing at the 70.3 World Championships in 2012. After finishing his PhD in 2012, he set his sight on his next goals of winning an Ironman and qualifying for the World Championships in Kona. In 2014 he accomplished these goals with a breakthrough win at Ironman Australia and racing the World Championships in Kona. To keep things interesting, Elliot also works full-time as a geophysicist in mineral and oil and gas exploration.
